Impressions count how often a page of the site appeared in someone's Google results, whether or not they scrolled down to it. They often climb first. A new site starts showing up for more searches, low down the page, before it earns better positions.
Clicks count the people who chose the site from those results. That's the figure closest to a phone call or a visit, and it's the one we lead with.
Both move with the seasons. A car wash is busier in a dry summer and a roofer gets more searches after the first autumn storm, so we compare four-week blocks and say when the calendar is likely part of the story. Search Console also leaves out taps inside Google Maps and calls made straight from the Business Profile, which is why Business Profile work gets measured separately.
