  • Quote form in the opening screen

Site structure

How Hangard's 64 pages are organised

Hangard's sitemap lists 64 pages. Twelve services sit under three hubs, each town and borough has a page of its own, and a Journal holds the longer guides. Service and area pages both finish with a "From the Journal" section pointing to two related guides. In the header, the Services menu names all twelve and the Service Areas menu names twelve of the towns.

Construction services

Five pages: extensions, renovations, basement conversions, loft conversions and roofing. The extensions page splits the work into six types, from single-storey to side-return, sets out the four stages of a job and answers five questions, including how long a single-storey extension usually takes on site.

Installations and maintenance

Two more hubs hold the other seven services. Installations covers kitchens, bathrooms, electrical work, and plumbing and heating. Maintenance covers property maintenance, driveways and patios, and landscaping.

36 area pages

The areas hub sorts 36 towns and boroughs into six regions, from Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns to prime central London, with a line on the housing and the work most asked for in each. Every area page then lists all twelve services for that place.

One area page up close

The Ealing page describes the houses (Victorian and Edwardian terraces with a narrow side return), the problems owners bring (cramped kitchens, Article 4 streets, cracking on London Clay) and how each is handled, then answers four Ealing questions.

The Journal

Five guides, each tied to a service: what an extension costs in west London, a loft conversion against a rear extension, renovating in a conservation area, basement planning permission in Kensington and Chelsea, and ten signs a period roof needs replacing.

The homepage, section by section

Six of the twelve services appear as cards, with a link to the rest. A short statement of how the firm works comes next, then the areas under their six regions, three recent projects (a side-return extension, a mansard loft and a full house renovation, each with its town) and a callback form that asks only for a name, a number and a postcode. Callbacks run Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.

About, contact and the legal pages

About explains how the firm works and what it values. Contact holds the full quote form, and the cookies, privacy and terms pages complete the count.

The build

What Google and AI tools find on the Hangard site

Each kind of page carries its own structured data, and an llms.txt file sums up the services, the regions and the guides. It follows how we prepare sites for AI search, applied to a larger site.

Built in Astro

All 64 pages are built ahead of time as plain HTML. The 36 area pages share one layout, so every town gets the same sections in the same order.

Schema markup

The homepage marks the firm up as a GeneralContractor, with WebSite and breadcrumb data. Service pages add Service and FAQPage markup, the Ealing page adds a Place and four FAQs, the areas hub is a CollectionPage, and each Journal post is a BlogPosting with its own FAQs.

An llms.txt file

It lists all twelve services under their three hubs, gives each of the five Journal guides a one-line summary, and names the 36 towns and boroughs across West London, the Chilterns, Hertfordshire, Berkshire and prime central London.

The screens

Hangard on a large screen

The headline and a two-line summary of the work sit on the left, with buttons for the services and the process. On the right, the frosted "Start your project" form asks for a name, phone, email, postcode and a line about the job. A strip underneath covers free quotes, insurance and the area served.

Hangard at phone size

At 390 pixels the headline fills most of the first screen, followed by the summary and a single gold button. The quote form comes further down the page.

Dark and brass

A near-black palette with brass accents, chosen to sit at the premium end of the market.

A quote form over the photo

On desktop, a frosted-glass "Start your project" form sits over the opening photo, so the first screen is also the enquiry.

WhatsApp with context

Every WhatsApp message includes the address of the page it was sent from.

The number in the header

On a phone, the phone number stays visible in the header next to the menu.

The trade

Building for builders and renovation firms

A builder's site has to sell work that runs for weeks or months, to homeowners who are comparing firms before they let anyone in. They want to see houses like theirs, to know who handles planning and building regs, and to know who they'll deal with once the job starts. On Hangard the area pages cover the first point town by town, and the four-stage process on each service page covers the rest.

Planning is the question builders' sites most often leave out. Someone on an Article 4 street or in a conservation area wants proof the firm has dealt with their council before, so the Ealing page names the borough and two of its conservation areas, and one of the five guides is about renovating in one.

AI assistants need the same clarity: one name, one description of the work and the area, repeated everywhere, which our guide to LLM SEO explains. Nobody can make an AI tool recommend a business, and we don't claim to. There's more on website design for builders and SEO for building firms.

Thanks again Dan."
