How It Works

Our Local SEO Process

Three phases, in the right order.

I work through the same sequence with every client, because the order matters. You can't build authority on a broken foundation, and you shouldn't be spending on paid ads before organic is working for you. Step one is our free SEO audit, the Visibility Snapshot.

  1. Step
    Foundation Phase 01

    Fix the technical stuff first.

Most local business websites are doing quiet damage. Slow load times, thin pages, no structured data, a Google Business Profile that hasn't been touched in two years. I start here because everything else depends on having a solid base. There's no point running Google Ads to a site that loses people before the page loads.

You'll get a full technical audit, Core Web Vitals brought up to standard, on-page SEO across your key pages, and your GBP properly configured and verified.

  2. Step
    Authority Phase 02

Show up in all three places people look.

Google, Siri, and ChatGPT are three different places the same customer might be searching for your service right now. Most businesses only show up in one of them, if that. I build your presence across all three, so you're easier to find wherever the question gets asked.

This is where I build location pages, service content, FAQ structure for voice search, and the signals that make it easier for AI tools to find and cite you for local queries.

    • Local SEO · Google Search
    • AEO · Voice & Smart Assistants
    • GEO · AI Answer Engines
  3. Step
    Acceleration Phase 03

Fill the gaps with paid, then pull back.

Once the organic foundations are in place, paid search works significantly better. You're not starting from zero, so your cost per lead tends to come down. I add Google Ads and Meta campaigns where they make sense, track what they bring in, and scale back as organic takes over. The goal is a business that doesn't depend on ad spend to survive.

Google Search Ads, local service ads, Meta lead generation, and monthly reporting that shows what each channel contributed to your pipeline.

Rankings usually start moving around months three to four.

Common questions

What people usually ask before starting

How long does the foundation phase take?

Usually two to four weeks, depending on the size of your site and how much needs fixing. Some businesses have a solid base that just needs tuning, while others need more fundamental work. I'll tell you which after the audit.

Do I need to be involved during the build?

Not much. The kick-off call takes about an hour. I ask about your business, your ideal customers, and what you want more of. After that, you'll hear from me with occasional questions, but you're not managing the project. That's what you're paying me for.

When do I start seeing results?

The technical and GBP work tends to move quickly, and the first changes often show up in Search Console within a month or two. Organic rankings take longer. Expect to see real movement around months three to four, and the full effect by months nine to twelve. It's not glamorous, but that's the honest answer. Anyone promising page one in three weeks is not someone you should trust with your marketing budget.

Do I need all three phases?

Not necessarily at once. Some businesses start with Phase 01 and 02 and don't need paid search at all, because organic and GBP do the job. Others need leads immediately and start Phase 03 in parallel. I'll recommend what fits your situation, not what sells the biggest package.

What if I already have a website I like?

Then we keep it, if it's technically sound. I'm not in the business of rebuilding things that don't need rebuilding. If the site's fast, well structured, and converts, I'll work with what's there. If there are issues holding you back, I'll tell you exactly what they are and what fixing them would involve.

Pages that go deeper on each phase

  • Every service on its own page

SEO, web design, the Business Profile, ads, social and branding, and the order most businesses take them on.

  • The Growth Engine plan

The monthly plan behind phases one and two: a 20 to 30 page site, a managed Business Profile and ongoing SEO, with the price.

  • Case studies

Search Console figures from a live client site, including the weeks that went backwards and what we changed.

  • Who does the work

Why I build on Astro instead of WordPress, and the kind of businesses I take on.

  • AEO vs SEO: what's the difference?

Why phase two covers answer engines as well as Google search, and which to start with on a tight budget.

  • GEO vs AEO: two different problems

Being read out by a voice assistant and being cited by ChatGPT need different work. This explains where they overlap.
